What if you woke up one day to complete silence? What if you proceeded to drive to work and encountered no traffic whatsoever? What if you got the day off because your workplace was closed? What if you drove through non-existent traffic all the way to your home, and saw no one out and about along the way? What if the silence settled in, and you realized that you were alone?
Let's take this a step further:
What if the population of the Earth was reduced to two-hundred? What if you had all the power in the world, but no one existed to know about it? What if you were psychic, but you had no minds to read other than your own? No body to control but your own? What if the only things you held power over were inanimate? What then? Would you try to understand why you were alone? Would you kick back and relax? Would you treat the world as a large playground? Would you blindly search for other humans in hopes that someone was still alive? Would you simply go mad?
One last question:
What if you met someone?

Let's say the world's population has become a whopping. . . 200. These remaining people are all psychic in some way or another. Some are helpful, and have established small colonies where they take care of other survivors. Some have gone insane from solitude, and are likely to treat real humans like hallucinations -- their behavior is completely unpredictable. Some haven't yet found another human, and are either searching for survivors or simply enjoying the benefits of being the only person still alive on earth. Ghosts are also abundant in number, as almost every house on earth is now actively haunted. It would be incredibly stupid to come within ten feet of any cemetery.
As quiet as this new life is, anyone still alive would do well to watch his back...
